	―Game description

Classic Horror Elevator is an elevator-based horror game where players navigate many different floors based off of internet creepypastas, horror films, and video games. Most floors revolve around surviving a killer, although some floors include minigame-like content. It was created by user Imtherealspongebib on April 15, 2025. The game was privated due to development and safety guidelines multiple times in October 2025 and July 2026, which were then followed by major updates. The game is currently in V4.6.1.

Gameplay

Lobby Features

Players spawn inside a wooded lounge area, home to the credits and update boards. They will walk into a larger hall with stairways on both sides, special and gamepass shops located closer to the middle, and a conveyor carpet leading players to the elevator. Taking either stairs to a carpeted second floor, the player has the option of visiting the shop, the teleporter room, and if they bought the gamepass, the VIP Room. The entire space is somewhat rundown and lit by torches and chandeliers. The walls and sometimes roofs are also lined with horror characters from across the genre.

Gamepasses

Gamepasses are special perks or items that you can purchase with Retrobux. They can be helpful or mostly cosmetic. (All following gamepass names and descriptions are [sic])

Trivia

On "Tiger Trail", the road sign mentions Exit 42 on I-95, set in Scarborough, Maine, which is the birthplace of Stephen King, most known for his media series It, but also iconic works like The Mist and The Shining.
The audio for "Can You Feel The Sunshine?" was changed in the October 2025 updates, presumably due to DMCA strikes.
A lot of the assets made for this game were taken from imtherealspongebib's previous RetroStudio game, Classic Nightmare Fighters. Most notably a lot of voicelines and music, alongside some of the models for characters.
Before the re-release, the game was in a late 2012 time period. When the game re-released in 2026, it was changed to Early 2014.
Upon first releasing, CHE had 5 floors focusing on Jeff the Killer, Slenderman, Suicide Squidward, Suicidemouse.AVI, and Ben Drowned.
Pinhead originally had a different shirt made in 2016 before the re-release. However, it got content deleted before the re-release, so it was changed.
Oddly, it's more common to get a badge from dying than from winning, as there are many badges based on dying on.
There is currently only one badge that gives you a permanent item.
The Chose The Right Path badge's icon got content deleted. This wasn't fixed until 3.1, where it was restored as an image of SCP-106's face from SCP: Containment Breach that is shown in his pocket dimension when blinking. Originally, it was the icon for the Decayed March achievement from the same game.
On the Cupcakes floor, if the player captured leaves or dies, Pinkamena will saw at nothing until the round ends.
The 2025 Halloween Update's thumbnail originates from the update page for Scream Fortress 2010 from Team Fortress 2, which is also where the event floor originates. However, the thumbnail is edited to be on a black background, and seemingly has higher contrast than the original.

Bugs

On Unsolved Crimes, if one is captured by Matt, they can reset character before he has the chance to kill them. This kills Matt, and makes the entire floor safe.^(fixed)
In rare cases, the ship on Jaws Strikes! will fling away, giving players no protection against the shark.^(fixed)
On Be My Victim..., the swarm of bees from Candy Man can be seen flying through the lobby, although harmless.^(fixed)
When the Bloody Mary curse is activated on I Dare You..., players can continue to type "bloody mary" which will spawn more of her, creating clones. However, they seem to die when they walk into eachother.
For a brief period of time after the 10/12/25 update, the money bag gear could be spawned endlessly, with some elevators burying players with dollar bills.^(fixed)
Players in the lobby can be chosen by Saw to compete. However, if a server only has 1 player, Saw will choose the user and his dialogue will stop at "and". The player can reset which will stop the music. This breaks the Saw floor entirely.
If you disable the VIP tag and VIP sparkles, upon death, they will still appear and the toggles break.
Several sets of doors/back walls no longer fit with the elevator as of V4.0, as seen in A Soldier's Trauma^(fixed) and Pop Goes The Weasel.
The Run! floor can sometimes softlock the game by unloading the floor itself, which mostly happens in solo servers when you get to the truck.
Attempting to wear the Jason morph in the VIP Room will trap the person in the morph stand.
