Reason: Harassment and witch hunting from a lot of the players using it and the call to action to dislike the person on the list's games.

The State of NOOB

The NOOB list is no longer being updated due to loss of interest within the RetroStudio community. In general, the majority of RS players agree that the front page is okay as of now, and the module has been officially deprecated.

The New Owner Online Banner (also known as the N.O.O.B.) is a pinned model from the Free Models forum channel on the Retro Dev Discord.

The entire purpose of the model is to do quality control against "owner online type games" via disrupting their gameplay with annoyance mode (see below) or by kicking them from the game entirely and teleporting them to the dedicated appeal game by default, this can only happen when The N.O.O.B. has been integrated into a RetroStudio game at the developer's own choice.

Main forum post description

“	The N.O.O.B. is a banner and database of users who have made certain games deemed as "Owner Online" type games (see game qualifying list below), the script was made as a response to the lack of quality control on RetroStudio where these "Owner Online" games will fill the front page hindering the recognition of more well made games. The ultimate goal of The N.O.O.B. is to instil a mindset to all players to create high quality games furthermore harassment to these players is NOT APPROPRIATE to the cause.	”

Game Qualifer List

Users can qualify to be added to the list if they have made the following type of games:

Simon Says games that are operated by admin commands and not scripts.
- Games that have their objective entirely centred around free admin/getting free admin and nothing else, these games can be fine if they are automated.
Kohl's Admin House games (fine if they are automated)
“Last to leave the circle” games (fine if they are automated)
Games that are based off the source code of another game (e.g. Retro Fortress 2) that had been lazily copied and is being claimed by said developer as their own game.
Games where the owner is telling people to farm Retrobux or the game is titled as such.
Games that displays player's avatars that are on the ban list as a way to harass them in-game.
- Example: https://imgur.com/a/rhqjZNq
Hangouts games can count ONLY if they are just a baseplate or anything agreeably similar, this does not give you an excuse to suggest any hangout game
Gear games may also count ONLY if its just a baseplate with no decent map/effort put into it

Features

Annoyance Mode

This mode completely disables the kick functionality of the banner and insteads disrupts the player's game.

Disruptions

Watermark - This is an essential feature of annoyance mode that cannot be disabled which is for the clarity of The N.O.O.B., the developer of the game that included the banner and the player facing the watermark as it tells them why they are on the list and how to get off it. It also includes a teleport button to the dedicated appeal game.
Popups - Annoying fake popups appear on the player's screen that come in intervals between a randomly generated number between 0 to 6 seconds by default. This feature of annoyance mode can be disabled.
Noob Avatar - Upon Character Added the player's avatar will be transformed into the stereotypical Noob avatar with a T-Shirt of The N.O.O.B. icon. This feature of annoyance mode can be disabled.
Billboard GUI - Simply clones a billboard gui of the shortened noob icon on top of the player's head. This feature of annoyance mode can be disabled.

Troll Mode

This is an optional feature that can be used in the kick functionality mode of The N.O.O.B. where it jumpscares the player right before kicking them. This feature of the kick mode can be disabled.

Kick Popup

An optional feature only available in the kick functionality of The N.O.O.B. where it display notice of a player being detected by the banner and the player being kicked. This feature of the kick mode can be disabled.

Output Events

Output Events are something you can turn on so that the banner will fire remote events and bindable events if something happens, you can toggle each event you want to be fired and the banner will send the player object through parameter 1.

IsListed

The IsListed bool value will be stored in the player object and is called "IsOnTheNOOB", true will indicate that the player is on the list and vice versa. This setting is turned on by default and can be turned off.

Reception

In Retro Dev, the N.O.O.B.'s reception is mixed as some users think this is a great tool to stop Owner Online games, however some think that this model does nothing and instead encourages harassment and witch hunting.

N.O.O.B.'s reception on RetroStudio servers outside Retro Dev however is extremely negative as some think this models entire purpose is to harass players, gatekeep players from certain games and witch hunt certain users. Some of them also think that this is a horrible look on the community due to it being the most active forum and it being pinned.

Trivia

The original model was temporarily banned by an admin due to a RetroStudio game called "OBBY FOR FREE ADMIN (OWNER ACTIVE)", which was a prison for the creators of owner online games. The game promoted the N.O.O.B model and had a hall of shame including every single owner online dev's avatar taken from the N.O.O.B model's ID list.
- An Admin Supervisor unbanned the model after Videostar7 and others had a lengthy discussion with the admin who banned it.
- This also caused for a new rule to be added on the game qualifier list, where if you use player's avatars from the N.O.O.B. ban list.

Half of the event team and some admin supervisors encourage using this model.^{[Citation needed]}

How do you get removed from the list?

An excerpt from the main forum post:

“	All anybody will ask is that you make a decent game it doesn't have to be something incredibly complex, something like a simple tag game mode, showcase game or an intricate skateboard obby.	”
