About

The Epidemic (Discontinued) is a Retrostudio zombie story game created by akekapat_alt, Rolesional and bosslevi1205. It follows you and 11 other people trying to survive an epidemic after a scientist creates a virus and releases it on a city the players are located, in the game you travel to many locations, including a sewer, lab, cargo ship, and eventually an island on your way to stop the scientist. It has been discontinued. A remake of the game, The Epidemic: Refuged was made but cancelled and closed due to game-breaking bugs.

Gameplay

The game has objectives. Most of these are very easy as most of the objective is going from one place to another. But most of the time, there will be survival segments after the objectives. Where players will have to fight the zombies until the timer ends. You can earn points via coins dropped by the zombies. And you can use points to buy weapons or utilities like vests and grenades. You can also find molotovs lying around in parts of the game.

Storyline

Spoilers Alert! Read at own risk.

The game starts with you and 11 other people in a building. One of the players decide it's time to leave to find resources. They exit the building then hear noises. Then, a horde of zombies ambush them for 200 seconds.

After the ambush ends, they decide to find a Hand Radio so it can help them figure out where to go. They enter the shop and exit through the back and they find the Hand Radio. The Hand Radio tells them that they must destroy the virus. Hand Radio tells them to go to a subway which has been blocked by rubble and debris. The survivors blast the rubble and debris and they enter the subway. The Hand Radio calls for a train and they must defend for another 200 seconds. After they finished defending, they enter the train and get transported to another city.

They hear a weird sound but then. A shadow zombie called Doppleganger appears and tries to kill them. He dies and they enter a warehouse. The survivors find a scientist called Professor. Professor tells them that he "made the virus because he can" and then runs away. The survivors defend themselves from test subject zombies for another 200 seconds. After all the zombies die, a giant test tube breaks and a large zombie with a big arm comes out and tries to kill them. The zombie dies and the floor breaks.

The survivors fall into the sewers where they must shoot sewer pipes to continue. They destroy the pipes and then go to a large room with sewage water. Zombies come out of the water and tries to kill them. The zombies die and the survivors exit the sewers.

The survivors exit and sewers and find themselves in a farm. Hand Radio tells them that his name is Carter and that he's calling a Helicopter to pick them up. The survivors must defend themselves for 300 seconds. After the horde, a farmer zombie that looks like a golem comes out of the barn and tries to stab the survivors. He dies and the helicopter arrives.

The helicopter pilot then tells the survivors that they're going to the harbor because Carter is located there. The helicopter gets hit by a blast and they go crashing into the factory. The pilot dies and the survivors lose their radio. Doppleganger appears and runs away. The survivors chase after it and kill more zombies in their way. After that, they find the radio. But then a rogue robot appears and tries to kill them. He dies and the survivors go through a white door. The Doppleganger appears again and the survivors chase him again. He gets cornered but then disappears. Then a boss that looks like medusa called Brutalist appears and tries to kill the survivors. She dies and the survivors get jumpscared by Doppleganger and they all get teleported into a black box

The survivors must defend themselves from Shades for 100 seconds. After the time is up they get teleported outside of the factory and they walk to the harbour. The Radio tells them that the Professor is on a cargo ship. So Radio calls another helicopter and survivors have to defend themselves for another 200 seconds. After the horde ends the helicopter arrives. They fly to the cargo ship but gets shot down by Professor who has a sniper. They land on the cargo ship and they find out Professor has got away using a lifeboat and also broke the engines on the ship so they decide to fix it. They kill some more zombies and they find a person named Greg. Greg tells them that he's going to "beat them up" he injects a syringe and he becomes a green zombie with a large arm and tries to kill the survivors. He dies and the survivors fix the engine. They use the cargo ship to an island where they think Professor is at. The door on the island opens which turns out it is another lab. They go not too far inside the lab and then find out that more zombies are coming. They defend themselves for the last 200 seconds and then a giant zombie comes out of a large door, wielding a minigun. The giant zombie dies and the game ends

Trivia

The Epidemic is based on multiple zombie story games. Including Roblox Evil 5 and March of The Dead (Malformation, the 2nd boss is based off the Mutant from March of The Dead)
bosslevi1205 made the designs for all of the zombies. Rolesional made the lab segment. (Rolesional quit developing on after all the zombie walkspeeds were buffed.)
The game was originally going to be a World War 2-Themed game. The blown up road and the blown up building is the remnant.
The guns were originally projectile guns. Until RemoteEvents caused a huge memory leak. Causing it to get changed into the FE gunkit
Most human characters are avatars of akekapat_alt (Farmer, Guard) and Rolesional (Scientist)
Rolesional has a copy of the game but with Zombie Tower zombies.
Zombies had no damage cooldown and they penetrated forcefields (This made the game unplayable as zombies would spawncamp you and you would earn no points. The problem was worser with the bosses as the boss would be difficult to kill, and they would just camp at the survivor's spawn.)
